Book Auctions and Manuscripts

Boningtons have emerged as notable specialists in the field of antique book auctions and manuscripts. We hold specialist book sales as well as featuring antique books in our regular fortnightly sales and have done for many years. Because of this we have built up a loyal clientele base. Most if not all of these sales have contained a vast selection of works ranging from the early modern to modern era, with these including many first edition and rare examples.

If you would like to be advised on a particular Book, Manuscript or Ephemera that you have been trying to source, please contact our saleroom where we have specialists on hand to help you out or you are more than welcome to e-mail us with your enquiry and one of the team will get back to you.

If you have been looking to purchase a particular book, we offer a service where you can provide us with the details of the books and your contact information by simply filling in our enquiry form and we will notify you via e-mail when such examples become available in any of our forthcoming sales. It can often be difficult to find rare and out of print books so please do get in touch if there is something specific you are looking for, we may be able to help.

Below you can see details of a previous book auction, where Boningtons were able to offer a significant single private collection of antique books from the library of a well-known zoologist. The collection included some very notable examples of antique books dating from the 17th century to the present day, with some particularly fine works on botany and travel which proved extremely popular with collectors
