We would like to wish all our clients a Happy New Year. We are pleased to announce that our saleroom is now open for viewing for our first sale of 2014 which includes the usual diverse selection of quality antique and collectable items.
There are some fine pieces of jewellery on offer, not least Lot 129, an 18ct Cartier triple band gold bracelet set with diamonds to links (pictured above), as well as two examples by Tiffany (Lots 1 & 2). Other highlights include an Aspreys repeating carriage clock (Lot 126), a 19th century taxidermy of South American birds (Lot 139) & a ladies Boucheron 9ct gold wristwatch with diamond bezel (Lot 32). There is also a strong selection of furniture up for grabs including some fine Regency, Victorian & Edwardian examples such as a striking mahogany breakfront bookcase (Lot 112).
Last month`s Christmas Sale proved to be a fitting end to an excellent year at Boningtons Auctioneers. Notable results included an extremely high quality pair of hallmarked silver candle holders by the renowned silversmith Stuart Devlin. The 10.5″ high pair drew fierce competition within the room, on the phone and online before selling to an internet bidder for £1800. The following Lot, a small silver dish, also by Devlin, realised a healthy £320.
Meanwhile, the top price in the sale was achieved by a stunning pair of diamond set Deco-style earrings which sold to a telephone bidder for £3200. There was also a strong selection of memorabilia on offer which produced some strong results such as the £1200 realised by a framed picture of the Muhammad Ali knock down by Henry Cooper signed by Cooper himself.
