Boningtons is now open for viewing for its forthcoming Interiors Sale on Monday 2nd September. As ever the sale include a diverse range of quality antique and collectable items including jewellery, clocks & watches, silver, pictures, furniture, ceramics and works of art.
Boningtons’ last Interiors auction saw the saleroom sparkle with a large collection of hallmarked silver. The works on offer included some very fine pieces, not least some early Victorian & Georgian examples, which were in very good, clean condition and duly attracted some extremely competitive bidding both in the room, via the internet and on the telephone. Highlights included a melon design four piece coffee set (sold for £1350), a large twin handled tray (sold for £1280), as well as some unique examples such as a large Westerham Hill Horse Show Society trophy (sold for £740, pictured below left). Boningtons’ forthcoming auction on September 2nd also includes some interesting silver pieces, not least an HM silver gilt Coronation coach (pictured top left).
Boningtons’ previous sale auction saw some notable sales of ceramics. A Border Fine Arts figure of a weasel and a mouse (pictured) attracted huge interest before selling for £340, whilst a Moorcroft leaf pattern bowl (pictured) realised £300. Other highlights included a 1960s Rolex Oyster gents wristwatch (pictured, sold for £600), and a fine late 18th century coloured engraving ‘The Drury Lane Masquerade’ by the enigmatic artist Charles Ansell (pictured, left) which sold to an internet bidder for £170.
There is a very healthy selection of pictures in this Monday’s sale, including works by some notable artists such as Russell Flint, Walter William Burgess and George Manchester RA, together with some speculative unattributed oils and watercolours by good quality hands, not least some intriguing 19th century portraits such as a pastel of a gentleman (pictured top right).
Our next auction will be a specialist Coins, Medals and Military sale on Monday 16th September. It is still not too late to consign items for this sale so please contact us directly for free valuations or alternatively bring your items along to our Valuations Days on Thursday 5th & Friday 6th September.
