For many the summer months are a time for rest and relaxation but it has been full steam ahead at Boningtons Auctioneers recently with a number of strong sales throughout the holiday season. Our forthcoming Interiors auction is no exception with a large number of exciting lots on offer across a range of fields
This is particularly true of the silver which includes an extensive selection of high quality works, many from a single private collection, including Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian examples. Stand out examples include an Edwardian mirrored cake stand (Lot 78, est. £600-800, pictured above right) and a Four Piece Coffee Set (Lot 82, est. £1200-1500).
The sale also includes a large quantity of pictures including some significant examples by well listed artists including original watercolours by Sir Walter Westley Russell (Lot 114, pictured) & Henry Barlow Carter (Lot 144, pictured), as well as a range of limited edition prints by renowned modern artists such as Bernard Dunstan (Lot 157) & John Brunsdon (Lot 164).
There is also the usual fine selection of jewellery, ceramics, clocks & watches, furniture and works of art. Highlights include a good quality Chinese hardwood dining suite with mother of pearl inlay (Lot 186, pictured) and a 19th century WMF planter with glass liner (Lot 96, pictured top left).
Our last Interiors auction on 5th August saw some strong prices set throughout the eclectic mix of lots on offer. Notable sales included an 1.15ct diamond solitaire (pictured, sold for £1300), a cased gold Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society medal (sold for £400), a pair of 19th century Royal Worcester pot pourri vases (sold for £300), and an interesting collection of Irish literary works including examples signed by Seamus Heaney (sold for £220).
