Our fortnightly vintage sale on 30th April will especially gratify those of you who love antique toys, as we will be incorporating “The Toy Sale” into this auction.

Few antiques inspire as much nostalgia as antique toys do. They remind us of our own childhoods, when we had fewer worries, stresses and responsibilities. They also take us back to times in history when life was simpler and more innocent, when a doll, a teddy bear or a wooden train was a child’s treasured possession.

Life is a lot more complicated now, and children seem to want toys that are just as complicated. However while a new electronic game is fun, it doesn’t provide the same sort of comfort that a teddy bear or a doll does. Most of us realise this and know that there is still a place for these types of toys. Looking at antique toys reminds us of this and that is one of the reasons they give us such pleasure.
