Companies are trying to reproduce styles from years past, but the look is never quite the same. Also, if you buy new jewellery, you know that someone else is likely to be wearing the same thing. New versions of jewellery don't hold the initial glamour that the originals did, and new jewellery often is not made to the same standards, and doesn't last as long. So buying antique jewellery is actually a better investement.

Looking for antique jewellery at mid-range auctions is a great place to start. Here you can find fine quality items and you have the opportunity to get them for reasonable prices. More than likely you will find yourself buying repeatedly at the auctions because of the craftsmanship and beauty of the antique jewellery you find. Keep in mind that these items make wonderful gifts and tokens that can become treasured heirlooms too.
