Our mid range antiques and collectables are sold through our fortnightly vintage sales, which leaves the top end antiques and works of art fighting for a place in our fine art sales which are held throughout the year.
Vintage luggage ranges from custom pieces made in the 1920s and 30s to gloriously "mod" styles from the late 60s and early 70s. If you've travelled by air any time in the recent past, you've no doubt noticed the ubiquity of today's soft-sided luggage on wheels. While it excels in convenience and is inexpensive, much of it is distinctly lacking in style. Not to mention it makes finding your bag among the hoards on the luggage carousel more difficult.
We are still consigning for this sale and would welcome further Lots, please call the saleroom for a valuation or send a message using the form below
If you own a hatbox style case from the 60s in a gorgeous, rich coral or pink, you'll have no trouble picking out your own chic and cheerful looking bag from the crowd! The luggage of 40 or 50 years ago may have been expensive at the time, but it was an investment that was expected to last decades, if not a lifetime. That's why you can still find vintage luggage that either still looks new, or can easily be made to. Today's "disposable" luggage can't hold a candle to it!
Another great thing about vintage luggage is that it need not be used for travel at all. Some of the styles were beautiful enough that they can be used as attractive storage options that are far less boring than a stack of plastic storage boxes, and far more elegant.
