Boningtons are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Iside Carbone, Asian Art Specialist, who will be available in the New Year to provide Valuations and advice. We are also looking forward to the first of many talks Dr Carbone will be giving here at Boningtons, the first one will take place on the Thursday 26th January commencing at 5pm to celebrate the Chinese New Year and the coming of the year of the Dragon and looking at how this mystical beast is present throughout the centuries in many periods and forms of Chinese Art.
Iside can provide advice on a wide range of Chinese artefacts, such as ceramics, lacquerware, metalwork, textiles and paintings.
She is a specialist in Chinese art, with over 15 years of experience in this field. With a solid background in Chinese language and culture, she graduated from Ca’ Foscari University, Venice and further specialised in Chinese art and archaeology at Nankai University, Tianjin, and SOAS, London. She was awarded a PhD in anthropology from University College London in 2010.
Her expertise and research interests span from Shang- and Zhou-dynasty bronzes to Chinese export art, from the circulation of Chinese art along the Silk Road to collections of Chinese art in European museums.
She is involved in a number of activities for which her specialism is essential. She teaches courses on various aspects of Chinese art as part of the World Arts and Artefacts programme at Birkbeck College and she cooperates with the British Museum, often giving gallery talks based on the museum's Chinese collections.
