Clarice Cliff

Another fortnight flew by and here we were again with another full Auction room. The highlight for me last week was a home visit to a ladies house in Essex who had managed to buy a Clarice Cliff vase at a local jumble sale for £0.50. Telling the lady we estimated the vase between £400 and £600 gave her a massive shock and me great pleasure. The vase was a 1932 Bizarre ‘Moonlight’ pattern, 360 shaped handpainted with a stylised tree and flower landscape and in A1 condition. The final sale price on Monday after much frantic bidding was £950*; two very delighted clients !

Once again we had a large collection of Lladro which included a stunning Christmas Tree from the Night Before Christmas collection and a large bust of a lady to name a few along with a large selection of clocks to include a 19th century Ormalu example in its original glass dome amongst our usual collection of silver, jewellery and furniture.

Our weekends will now be taken up on the Golf course as Head of Probate Colin Hughes has arranged the first Boningtons Essex Auctioneers golf day to be held at Chigwell Golf Club in early September.
