The Sale, once again attracted a full house. Apart from our faithful regulars, new faces were plentiful, mainly due to the 60 Lot Moorcroft section with pieces by well known artists Sally Tuffin, Sian Leaper and Emma Bossons. Although the items were modern they sold well above estimate. Bidding in the Furniture section was also buoyant, a Regency Console table made £450 against an estimate of £150-£200. The Picture section had very good original print by L S Lowry 1887-1976, it was of a Manchester Street scene with brightly coloured figures and in unfaded condition.
The presale estimate was £150-£250. Bidding was strong in the room up to £380 until two telephone bidders from Yorkshire who had seen the Lot on the Internet bid each other up to £1000. The price achieved was very high for a Lowry print but prices are going up steadily for well known British Artists. Well, back to the grindstone … let’s see what we can find for our next sale on 21st February …
